LED Wall Refresh at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale
Holt Renfrew, one of Canada’s most iconic luxury retailers, recently undertook a digital display upgrade at its Yorkdale Shopping Centre location in Toronto. As part of its ongoing commitment to delivering a premium in-store experience, the client required a complete overhaul of its primary largeformat LED feature wall. The objective was to enhance visual impact, improve operational reliability, and streamline content management within the high-traffic retail environment.
To deliver on this vision, Holt Renfrew partnered with GAV MGMT to lead the design, engineering, and execution of a next-generation LED solution. The project called for a full system replacement, including the decommissioning of legacy infrastructure, structural re-engineering, and integration of new display and content technologies—all completed with minimal disruption to retail operations.
Holt Renfrew Yorkdale required a comprehensive refresh of its existing large-format LED display to improve visual performance, system reliability, and long-term serviceability. The existing Nanolumens LED wall no longer met the retailer’s standards for image quality or operational efficiency.
The client sought a premium, large-scale display solution that would seamlessly integrate with the store’s architectural environment while providing dynamic digital content delivery. Structural safety, display precision, and content control were critical to the success of the project. A full decommissioning of the existing system and reengineering of the mounting infrastructure were required to support the new installation.
GAV MGMT led the full replacement of the original Nanolumens display with a new 30-foot tall by 12-foot wide Samsung IEA LED wall, delivering a next-generation visual experience for Holt Renfrew’s flagship retail environment.
The Samsung IEA LED cabinets were configured with Samsung’s MagicInfo content management system, providing centralized control, advanced scheduling, and seamless playback of high-resolution content. The system was designed to support continuous retail operations while offering flexibility for visual merchandising updates and seasonal campaigns.
Given the scale of the display, a custom structural mounting solution was engineered and reviewed by a licensed Professional Engineer (PEng). The structure ensured secure, load-bearing support while meeting all applicable building and safety codes. A precision-engineered surround frame kit was fabricated and installed to complete the aesthetic integration of the display into the store environment.
